Santa Cruz Shakespeare (SCS)

For the ninth year, Club members are operating the rental booth during the 67-show 2024 season of the Santa Cruz Shakespeare Festival at the outdoor Audrey Stanley Grove Theater in DeLaveaga Park. The season is July 13 through September 28.

At all 67 shows, our club members rented cushions, beach chairs and blankets for those cold nights in The Grove. We welcomed volunteers to help us with this major fund-raiser. In addition to helping us raise funds for Santa Cruz County women and girls, volunteers had the added benefit of being able to see the shows for free.

At the recent region conference held in Visalia, the Sierra Pacific Region Board recognized our Capitola-by-the-Sea Club with certificates for:

  • A 10% increase in the number of Live Your Dream Awards we presented in 20
  • Successful Dream It, Be It event
  • Best use of traditional media, and
  • Best outdoor event (Santa Cruz Shakespeare Festival)
  • President’s Rountable Outstanding Contributor

Dinner for 6 Raffle Winner wowed by catered gourmet dinner

A Dinner for 6 Raffle is just one way that we at Soroptimist International of Capitola-by-the Sea raise funds to support local area women in reaching their educational goals.

“The event was a catered gourmet dinner for 6 at a private villa; it was a phenomenal event! I mean…I’m virtually without words as to what a wonderful event it was with a delightful setting, phenomenal chef, and host and hostess that…well, I’d of liked to have adopted them all! Very, very special! What a great cause! What a great event!” – winner of the Soroptimist Capitola-by-the-Sea Dinner for 6 Fundraiser.

This year’s Dinner for 6 winner was hosted at the home of one of our members in the Soquel hills on October 21. The guests were blown away by the event and thoroughly enjoyed the setting as well as the fine food and company. The raffle winner gave us the above glowing review. We thank the guests for being so gracious and for their support of the Soroptimist mission.
